Scholarships

The Human Resource Leadership Awards presents up to four $3,000 scholarships annually to students pursuing careers in the HR field.

MiMi Jennings | Director, Total Rewards, Airlines Reporting Corporation
MiMi Jennings CCP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, has more than 15 years’ experience as a total rewards professional attracting, motivating, and retaining top talent. With a focus on designing rewards programs that drive employee engagement, MiMi believes that when employees are valued for their contribution while being provided with opportunities to improve their quality of life, they will be motivated to serve with passion.

MiMi’s deep experience in total rewards design and implementation spans a range of expertise including compensation, benefits, work-life, performance management, recognition, training and development, and global mobility. Her background includes both domestic and international experience at industry-leading companies in public and private sectors.

Known as a compensation subject matter expert, MiMi has quickly gained credibility with HR, management, and executive leadership teams for her progressive approach in designing programs and policies that have driven process improvement in line with a total rewards philosophy. Accordingly, she was thrice awarded commendations by XO Communications for high achieving performance, and was nominated into the Rolls-Royce High Potential Specialist Pool by their global HR Executive Committee.

MiMi plays an active role in the Washington DC area HR community including membership in The Total Rewards Association, WorldatWork; WACABA; and serving as a volunteer co-leader of NOVA SHRM’s Compensation & Benefits Special Interest Group (SIG).

She earned her Master of Arts in Human Resource Management & Industrial Relations from Saint Francis University and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Magna Cum Laude from Towson University. MiMi has also served as an adjunct instructor at Saint Francis University, Graduate School of HR Management & Industrial Relations.

Calvin Pringle | Program Director for the Master of Professional Studies in HRM, Georgetown University
Calvin Pringle, is a Program Director for the Master of Professional Studies in Human Resources Management program at Georgetown University. He is a professional leader with a proven track of proficiently delivering program priorities for more than five years. His background includes demonstrated success in managing full project life cycles while leading various programs, as well as managing business development, marketing, and social media strategy and public relations activities. He is also highly skilled in curriculum development, program analysis/design, and all aspects of Human Resources. He possess a solid track record for leading and motivating his faculty and students in order to achieve high levels of performance. Much of his success has much to do with his approachable consultative style and proactive project management methods as well as the ability to work with divers groups.

Some of his recent accomplishments include 2016 Human Resources Leadership Awards (HRLA) Scholarship Judge and Chapter Advisor for the Georgetown University Society for Human Resources Chapter. He has a special interest in diversity, social justice and inclusion work in higher education. Calvin works closely with underprivileged youth as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in the District of Columbia.

He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Maryland College Park, and is currently pursuing his Masters of Science degree in Project Management from the Catholic University of America.

Michelle B. Stalnaker, M.A., SHRM-SCP- SPHR | Director of Human Resources, Primary Integration, LLC
Michelle is the Director of Human Resources for PI and has been with the company since its inception. With the support of the executive leadership team, she has built the framework of the HR department and has implemented multiple HR policies, practices and procedures.

Prior to joining PI, Michelle worked for the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation (WVHTC) where she was a Commercialization Analyst. In this capacity, she helped companies and entrepreneurs with investment funding and entrepreneurial training.

Michelle holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Human Resource Management from Marymount University (MU) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from Fairmont State University with a triple major in General Business, Marketing and Management. Michelle is certified by the Human Resource Certificate Institute (HRCI) as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). She also serves as the President of Northern Virginia SHRM and remains active with her alma mater, Marymount University.

Pramila Rao | Scholarship Committee Chair, Associate Professor of Human Resource Management, Marymount University

The scholarship program is open to practicing Human Resources professionals and current students who are pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate degree in Human Resources (HR). Students must reside in the greater Washington, DC area (e.g., Richmond up to Baltimore) and be registered in an HR program that is part of a regionally accredited university (e.g., Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or North Central Association’s Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement).

Applicants must provide evidence of acceptance or enrollment in a Human Resources program of study. Current students must demonstrate satisfactory academic performance, as defined by a grade point average equivalent to a “B” average.
