About

The Human Resource Leadership Awards are the only independent awards that promote and advance excellence in the HR profession in the greater Washington, DC area. Established in 2001, the Awards celebrate outstanding service and strategic vision in the areas of organizational leadership, risk-taking, innovation, vision, communication, service to the broader community, and commitment to ethical behavior.

Vision

To promote and advance human resource excellence in the greater Washington community.

Mission

The mission of Human Resource Leadership Awards of Greater Washington is to be the leading advocate for recognizing executive HR professionals and emerging HR leaders whose exemplary leadership, strategic vision and commitment to continuous development and professional engagement significantly advances the importance of the HR function in creating long term business value.

History

The Human Resource Leadership Awards were an outgrowth of discussions between C. Michael Ferraro (President & CEO of TRAINING SOLUTIONS, Inc.) and Sister Eymard Gallagher, RSHM (President of Marymount University, 1993-2001). Committed to recognizing HR excellence, Sister Eymard put things in motion for the founding of HRLA and then passed leadership of the program to her successor, President James Bundschuh. Ferraro and Bundschuh co-chaired the first annual Human Resource Leadership Awards in June 2002. Critical to the launch of the awards was the support of corporate sponsors, among them Dr. J.P. London and Mr. Pat Stefl of CACI and Laura Reiff of Greenberg Traurig.

Today

June 2011 marks the celebration of the 10th Annual HR Leadership Awards Gala. The awards program continues to grow through the efforts of Marymount University, a volunteer committee, corporate sponsors, and community partners.
